Parent Guide about Underage Drinking

 

Responsibility.org, alongside a team of educators and organizations specializing in elementary- and middle schoolers, developed Ask, Listen, Learn: Kids and Alcohol Don’t Mix. Ask, Listen, Learn is a completely FREE digital underage drinking prevention program for kids ages 9-13 (grades 4-7) and their parents and educators with the goal to reduce underage drinking.

Underage drinking is a significant public health problem in the U.S. Excessive drinking is responsible for more than 3,500 deaths and 210,000 years of potential life lost among people under age 21 each year. Underage drinking cost the U.S. $24 billion in 2010. There were approximately 119,000 emergency rooms visits by persons aged 12 to 21 for injuries and other conditions linked to alcohol in 2013.

Self Guided E-Learning Module: Preventing Underage Drinking in Rhode Island, Why It Matters

 

The purpose of this eLearning course is to educate behavioral healthcare providers, educators, law enforcement officials, parents, and concerned citizens about the state of underage drinking in Rhode Island, prevention efforts that work, and how to become involved. Please note that we can only provide certificates of course completion to those who work in Rhode Island.

SADD

Empower, Engage, Mobilize, Change

SADD chapters have access to an array of underage drinking prevention programs that include activities that engage and educate the school, the community and parents.  Some SADD students serve in an advisory capacity with other national groups working to reduce the instances of underage drinking.

Parent Guide about Underage Drinking

 

Discovery Education teamed up with Ask Listen Learn for a middle school curriculum. In this interactive module, students will learn about the effects of alcohol on the developing brain and use this information to help them (and their friends!) make informed and responsible decisions when confronted with peer pressure to drink alcohol underage.
